The Artisté

The Artisté :: 6ft x 3ft
oil on cradled panel :: framed

An artist friend of mine (Mark Nilsson) is leaving the area… so I decided to do a full sized portrait of him before he leaves! It was fun to do a painting that large… 6ft x 3ft, or crazy... anyway it will also be in the Body Language show at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, OR. Mark and I worked on a mural project together a few years ago for Full Sail Brewing. The mural was 40ft long x 8ft tall. I could never have done anything that large without his help. He does huge paintings and murals all the time. We will miss him greatly! (I'm still hoping maybe he will change his mind and stay!)

The ArtByte Update:
I have also completed 2 ArtBytes now. ArtBytes are byte sized online art tutorials. One of them, is about how to paint your panels with black gesso and it is free. The second ArtByte is about painting a still life painting on black gesso, and it is $10. This one is newly updated I added some additional info, links, and photos to the original one.
If you don't already know about ArtBytes, each one contains text, images and links to products and more information, DPW has ArtBytes by other artists in the store too. They have concise information, not so long that you will get bored. Once you buy an ArtByte it is yours forever.
Take a look in the ArtByte store and let me know what you think!

Barrista and ArtBytes

8"x8" :: Barrista :: oil on archival panel
This painting is one of my works for the Body Language show that opens on Nov 2 at the Columbia Center for the Arts, in Hood River. It is an invitational show with several regional artists who will also be showing work. This is one of my paintings that I started with black gesso. I will be posting some of them as I complete them, and they will be available in the show for the month of November.

Last Roses - sold

Last Roses :: 6"x6" :: oil on panel
According to the weather prediction (if you want to believe it), the rain starts this week! You sure can't tell from today's weather. It was such perfect fall weather - sunny and clear blue sky, 70's in the afternoon… if it is true, then our roses are done until next Spring.

Check out all my paintings on Daily PaintWorks!
